1. ROLE:
The People Officer specializing in Employee Relations will be a key
member of the P&O team, reporting to the Senior People Partner. The
successful candidate will be responsible for a suite of HR generalist
duties and will play a critical role in maintaining positive
relationships between employees and our organization. The primary
responsibility will be to foster a productive work environment that
aligns with our organizational goals, values and mission. Work
collaboratively with a team of People Officers to support a culture of
continuous improvement by being service oriented, coordinating special
projects and deploying best practice HR initiatives across the
organisation and being the first point of contact for employee
relation queries.
2. KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
HR DUTIES
* Liaise with the people officers and other managers to deliver HR
support throughout the organisation.
* Providing HR support to managers and employees, explaining
procedures and policies in a timely and effective manner, ensuring
awareness and adherence and escalating when required.
* To liaise with the People Partner on all employee relation issues
and coordinate any formal processes which will include admin support.
* Assisting in the development and update of HR procedures and
policies in line with evolving legislation, ensuring policies and
practices are complaint with NI employment legislation and EU
regulatory obligations.
* Provide counselling services to employees, addressing their
concerns, grievances, and work-related issues including guidance on
compensation, benefits, and other HR-related matters.
* Ensuring employee records related to grievances, absences,
informal/formal processes, status changes etc. are maintained
accurately and efficiently.
* Ensure efficient use of online HR systems (Bamboo HR) to meet the
organisations goals.
* Oversee and complete the recruitment process; job descriptions,
job adverts, shortlisting, interviews, processing new hires,
contracts, probation and terminations.
* Preparing, reviewing, interpreting, analyzing and approving a
variety of HR data and reports, then making recommendations depending
on findings.
* Assist with employee engagement initiatives, promoting a positive
work culture.
* Attend job fairs and college campuses to promote our organization
and attract potential talent.
ORGANISATIONAL DUTIES
* To support other functions of the People and Organisational
department when required.
* To liaise with the finance and services departments on the
processing of monthly payroll.
* To contribute to the monthly and quarterly reports relating to
your work areas.
* Ensuring the ongoing implementation of the fundamental purpose and
ethos of Depaul.
* To ensure that all Depaul policies and procedures are being
adhered to, particularly those relating to Health and Safety, Code of
Practice and Confidentiality.
* To contribute to the effective implementation of the
Organisation’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

3. PERSON REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION
* Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration,
or related field. (ESSENTIAL)
EXPERIENCE
* A least 1 year paid experience in an HR role (ESSENTIAL)
* Experience working within a team managing both staff and
volunteers
* Experience of managing the administration of formal HR processes
(ESSENTIAL)
KNOWLEDGE (ESSENTIAL)
* HR functions: employee– employer relations, recruitment, LOA,
policies etc. (ESSENTIAL)
* Understanding of employment law, legislation, grievance and
disciplinary procedures
* End to end recruitment process
* Volunteering and management of volunteers
SKILLS
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with
employees.
* Creative and energetic with the ability to work on own initiative
* Excellent time management / enabling to balance a varied workload
and to prioritise
* Excellent influencing and people, numerical, analytical skills and
team skills
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel
